The Foundation Swiss Sports Tribunal took up its duties on July 1, 2024. Swiss Sport Integrity welcomes this important step for Swiss sport.

The introduction of the Ethics Statutes and the launch of Swiss Sport Integrity in January 2022 have laid an important cornerstone for the protection of sportsmen and women. The intensification of anti-doping work and the launch of the national Reporting service for ethics violations have resulted in a large number of procedures. The proliferation of doping and ethics cases has created a major capacity and resource problem for the Disciplinary Chamber of Swiss Sports (CD). The replacement of the CD by the Swiss Sports Tribunal has made it possible to take this problem into account and carry out structural reforms. In future, the Swiss Sports Tribunal will be responsible for handing down rulings and sanctions for doping and ethics violations in Swiss sport.

An important development

The creation of the Foundation Swiss Sports Tribunal is an important and necessary development for Swiss sport. The professionalization of the decision-making body should enable doping and ethics cases to be dealt with more quickly and in a timely manner, representing a major improvement for all parties involved, from the individuals concerned to the sports federations and the accused, as well as for Swiss Sport Integrity itself.
