The director of the Reporting Service for Ethics Violations at Swiss Sport Integrity, Markus Pfisterer, is handing over the reins. The search for a successor has begun.

Markus Pfisterer has decided to step down from his role as director of the Reporting Service for Ethics Violations and Abuses in Swiss sport in order to pursue an independent activity on a mandate basis. “I have always considered it a great privilege to be in charge of the Reporting Service and to be able to work with my team as well as with the national sports federations and our partners, the Federal Office for Sport FOSPO and Swiss Olympic. Due to my limited availability, I have come to the conclusion that it makes sense to hand over the management to someone with more time resources and to focus fully on my independent career,” explains Pfisterer. Achieving a seamless, smooth and successful transition is very important to Pfisterer, which is why the exact date of the handover has not yet been determined.

Back in October 2021, the 53-year-old from Aargau took on the challenge of setting up the Reporting Service at Swiss Sport Integrity. The start was characterized by many challenging experiences, which included helping to create the first Ethics Statutes and at the same time recruiting and training personnel to process the reports. The large number of reports received led to considerable growth in the team, which was able to maintain the high-quality standards under Pfisterer's leadership. In his 3 years as director of the Reporting Service, over 1’000 reports were received and processed.

Pfisterer played a key role in securing the necessary financial resources to expand the Reporting Service due to the high and ever-increasing number of reports received. He successfully demonstrated to partner organizations the urgency and necessity of providing additional support, always in the interests of Swiss sport.

“What Markus has achieved by setting up the Reporting Service is extraordinary and cannot be appreciated enough. We would like to thank him for this, not only on behalf of Swiss Sport Integrity but also on behalf of Swiss sport”, asserted President Ulrich Kurmann. Meanwhile, Director Ernst König is looking forward to the continued collaboration: “We are very pleased to be able to continue working with Markus Pfisterer on a mandated basis. His extensive experience in the field of ethics in sport is very valuable to us.”

It has not yet been decided who will take over from Pfisterer, the search for a successor is currently underway.
