The Finnish ice hockey player Miro Aaltonen accepted the one-month suspension and a fine of 1’000 Swiss francs proposed by Swiss Sport Integrity in the context of the results management. In addition to the fine, the athlete must bear the doping control and analysis costs of around 800 Swiss francs. If a rule violation is committed with substances of abuse where the use occurred out-of-competition and not for the purpose of improving performance, a milder sanction may be imposed in accordance with the Doping Statute. If the athlete completes a rehabilitation program at his own expense, which was the case here, the suspension may be reduced to one month. The suspension has been in force since January 17, 2025, the start of the provisional suspension, and continues to apply to all sports and all functions in sport worldwide.
Swiss Sport Integrity reminds all athletes that they must assume full responsibility in the case of an anti-doping rule violation, with all the consequences that this entails in addition to the sanctions.
