The Foundation Board of Antidoping Switzerland has elected Ernst König, 39, as its new director general. Ernst König succeeds Matthias Kamber who will retire next spring. Ernst König was born in Bern and is a passionate sportsman. He has held executive positions in Switzerland and abroad for 15 years, currently working for a global service company in Edinburgh.
“Ernst König convinced us in the application process with his proven leadership and social skills," explained Corinne Schmidhauser, President of the Foundation Board, to the media. König was pleased with the election. As a passionate marathon runner, he has the necessary stamina not only to initiate projects, but also to bring them to a successful conclusion.
After completing his studies in agriculture, the future head of Antidoping Switzerland studied agricultural economics and computer science and obtained an MBA in strategy and business management from the University of Edinburgh Business School. He has worked as a marketing manager and managing director of associations and organizations. Currently, he is program manager for Citi Reality Services in Edinburgh where he leads the global property management program.
Ernst König has played ice hockey and is an active athlete. In addition, he also served as president of an ice hockey club and co-organiser of running events. Ernst König is married and father of a son.
The handover from the current director general Matthias Kamber to Ernst König will take place in the spring of 2018.
